Yes there are consumer based kits on the market for screen printing. They do not use the same type of ink nor is the same type of equipment used. We have over 30 years experience both in amateur and professional screen printing and have seen the evolution of these home kits as well as professional screen printing equipment. What is produced at home is not the same as what can be accomplished by a professional setup. We use plastisol inks which have some stretch in them naturally. We can use an additive to provide even more stretch to help print on materials such as ribbed knit tank tops. The inks used in home based kits is a water-based ink that does not provide the use of additives. It’s considered a lower quality ink by many professionals. It does take time to learn how to use the kit properly. Issues with prints from the kits we’ve seen include: missing portions of letters, blurry prints, bleeding of the ink from too much pressure, faded prints from not enough pressure, washing out from not following the curing directions of the ink, etc. We try to help when asked but we cannot correct these home kits and their inaccuracies as we do not use them. We know our printing capabilities and we try to educate our customers to what can be done as well as what can be experimented with on the equipment. We’re not afraid to try new things but we won’t compromise our quality produced either. We strive for a high quality product each and every time and that’s what we provide each of our customers is that attention to detail.
